ATTENTION 9th GRADE POETS

POETRY OUT LOUD and ANTHOLOGY ASSESSMENT “Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words” – Robert Frost The details: POL- 1. Choose TWO poems from poetryoutloud.org website 2. Analyze and Memorize ONE poem 3. Recite the poem in a class competition on JANUARY 13th , 14th, and 15th (if needed) 4. Hand in your poem with your analysis and annotations How you will be graded: Physical Presence (6 max points) Voice and Articulation (6 max points) Dramatic Appropriateness (6 max points) Level of Complexity (6 max points) Evidence of Understanding (6 max points) Overall Performance (9 max points) ANTHOLOGY- 1. Find, create, or make a book with blank pages inside 2. Glue a copy of your POL poem to the inside cover with a message as to why you chose that poem 3. Using the poems we created in class as well as your original work written in class and at home, FILL ALL THE PAGES WITH POETRY 4. Poems should show mastery of all facets of poetry ( literary devices, meter, forms, etc). 5. Before each poem, there needs to be a brief introduction that explains the inspiration for that particular poem 6. Pictures, illustrations, doodles are WELCOME and encouraged.
